Ken Whillans Resource Management Area

Ken Whillans Resource Management Area is a quick stop off Highway 10. I decided to knock this one off in the same day as Belfountain Conservation Area, since I was driving by and my new membership winning was burning a hole in my pocket.

It was a pretty busy little place today, as there was some fishing thing going on. There is also a separate smaller lot that allows access to the Caledon Railway Tract (which I will conquer eventually).

Shortly in to the trail, you’ll need to choose your path. To the left is the short loop that circles both ponds on the property, and to the right is a quick trip up between them.

I’m here for the loop, so to the left it is! On the right side of the path, the bush will clear up at random intervals to allow access to the pond for fishing, or in my instance, for a gorgeous view. Overlooking Kidd Pond from the south.

Some clearings have docks, which better serve those fishers and were completely taken up today.

The trail itself is wide and well-kept. Wildflowers pop up here and there.

From the top of the pond, I snagged another view. This one is overlooking Orchard Pond.

Wide open trails, and beautiful sunshine. What more could you ask for on a lovely holiday Monday?

To the north of Ken Whillans is a large open field with a lovely blue sky backdrop, stretching over to The Grange Side Road.

This is the larger of the two ponds in Ken Whillans, Orchard Pond. Every angle of this pond was a beautiful sight.

When it’s busy, like it was today, those clearings along the pond are all filled up. Be smart like these guys and bring a canoe!
